Terminology and Interface Guide

This guide explains the key terms, concepts, and navigational elements used within the Meabowcair system. It is intended for users who are new to the platform or who want a clearer understanding of how the interface is organised.

Key Terms

The following terms appear throughout the Meabowcair interface and in communications from the support team. Understanding these will help you navigate the system more effectively.

  • Classification Category

A defined grouping to which one or more pieces of content have been assigned during the ingestion process. Categories form the primary navigation structure of the review interface.

  • Content Record

An individual item of information within the system, presented in a standard layout that includes a label, metadata summary, main content body, and any associated items.

  • Review Session

A period of active use of the Meabowcair interface. Session history — which records which content has been viewed — is maintained for the duration of the session and does not persist beyond it.

  • Classification Layer

The system-level framework that assigns incoming content to categories, maintains category structure over time, and determines how content is surfaced through the review interface.

  • Ingestion

The process by which new content is received by the Meabowcair system, assessed against classification criteria, and added to the appropriate category or categories.

  • Access Level

The scope of content a user is authorised to review. Standard review covers the general content available within nominated categories. Extended review covers additional or deeper content branches, subject to a separate process.

  • Sequential Navigation

A mode of moving through the review interface in which the user progresses from one content record to the next within the same classification context, without returning to the category index between items.

  • Enquiry

A formal message submitted to the Meabowcair support team via the contact form. Enquiries may relate to general questions, access requests, or questions about specific content areas.

How the Interface Is Organised

The Meabowcair review interface is structured around the classification hierarchy. At the highest level, users see a list of the categories they have access to. Selecting a category reveals the content records assigned to it, ordered by the sequence determined during classification.

Within a category, records can be reviewed one at a time using sequential navigation, or users can jump to a specific record if they know its position in the sequence. The category label remains visible throughout the session to help users maintain their orientation within the overall structure.

The interface does not use a keyword search mechanism as its primary navigation tool. Navigation is structural and category-based, which reflects the classification-first design of the system. If users are looking for content on a particular subject, the appropriate first step is to identify the relevant category rather than to search for keywords across the entire content set.

Understanding Automated Organisation

The automated organisation system handles the placement of newly classified content within the existing hierarchy. Users will not typically encounter this process directly, but it is useful to understand what it means for the content they see.

When content is ingested, the automated system evaluates it against the current category structure. If the content fits clearly into an existing category, it is placed there and becomes visible to users with the appropriate access level. If the content does not fit neatly, it is flagged for manual review before being made available.

The result of this process is that content visible in the interface has always been explicitly placed rather than arbitrarily assigned. Users can have some confidence that what they find in a given category belongs there, though they should still apply their own judgement to the content itself.

Navigating the Review Environment

The review environment is designed to be self-explanatory for users who read the labels and contextual cues provided at each stage. For users who encounter a navigation element they do not recognise, the following general principles apply:

  • Labels above a list of items identify the category or sub-category you are currently viewing.
  • Numbered indicators show your position within a sequence of content records.
  • Controls marked with a directional cue move you to the next or previous item in the current sequence.
  • A return path to the category index is always present and typically appears near the top of the interface.
  • Where a section is not available to you, this is indicated rather than hidden entirely, so you are aware of what exists beyond your current access level.

If any element of the navigation is unclear, the support team can provide specific guidance via the enquiry form.

What the System Does Not Do

It may be helpful to be clear about the boundaries of the Meabowcair system, as these define what to expect and what to seek elsewhere.

Meabowcair does not verify the accuracy of the information it classifies and organises. The classification process is concerned with structure and placement, not with fact-checking or source validation. Content available within the system may represent a range of views or may reflect the state of information at the time it was ingested.

The system does not make recommendations or produce outputs based on your individual profile. All users with the same access level see the same content in the same organisation. There is no personalisation layer that selects content for individual users.

Meabowcair is not a communication tool. It does not facilitate contact between users, and it does not forward messages or share information between accounts.
